April LiesApril Lies is a Registered Clinical Counselor with a MA in Counselling Psychology/Wilderness Therapy from Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado.  She has been counselling adults, families and youth from various walks of life since 1999. Her gentle counseling approach has been successful in facilitating the recovery of minor to severe mental health concerns, as well as addiction recovery and personal development needs.

April is passionate about supporting your full recovery from physical, emotional and spiritual challenges, including complicated grief, anxiety, accident or relational traumas, post-traumatic stress, and chronic stress conditions.

She describes her way of working as experiential and present oriented, grounded in compassionate non-judgmental awareness.  From trauma through to transformation – she combines holistic, somatic, and energy based approaches to facilitate the unfolding of the inherent healing abilities of your being.

April employs an integrated range of counseling techniques including Assisted Self Discovery (Hakomi), Somatic (body-based) psychotherapy (Somatic Experiencing), Transpersonal Psychology, and Satir Family Systems Therapy.  Additionally, she incorporates Nature Based activities, and Wilderness Therapy “homework” for those looking for added engagement.  If you prefer to take your therapy session outdoors, April is happy to arrange this with you. She currently practices in both Squamish and North Vancouver.

In her spare time, you can find April doing yoga, canoeing, snowboarding, and exploring the beauty of the natural world near and far with her giant Alaskan malamute, a friend she has been with since first discovering the Yukon wilderness 13 years ago.
